Our Thoughts
Overall, the ABC Water Trail has indeed helped us understand more on the importance of fresh, drinkable water in Singapore, and how the government has tried to raise awareness to the public. ABC Water Trail is one such example that raises our awareness of water through various of stations and this had given us much insight. Lower Seletar Reservoir has serve much importance in this programme that PUB has set up. With it large water retention capacity due to the nearby canals and drains. The beautiful scenery that is enhanced by many things present around the reservoir, one such example being the Rain Garden, with it helping out filter the water before releasing it. It has pathways resting areas for residents living nearby to carry out activities such as jogging, and let's not forget the water body that serves as a perfect place for water activities such as canoeing and kayaking. This not only allow the people to realize how import water is, but also serve its purpose as one of the important catchment areas that provides Singapore with water.
Of course, we should not forget how the ABC Water Trail is carried out in an unique way. In the form of 'the Amazing Race', it let students have a hands-on chance of learning new things, a real stark contrast but also a more interesting way as compared to the boring old textbooks and cooped up in the classrooms.
It is Singapore's vision to transform our nation into a city of Gardens and Water, something we should contribute and do our part in. For example, we should not pollute any of the reservoirs or water bodies, for if we do so, it would disrupt the beauty of the place, but also the ecosystem.
Together, we can help make Singapore's vision a real thing - something we should all be aiming for and no longer a faraway and impossible feat.
